Looing for a fun event to attend this weekend?  Check out the 35th Annual Lakewood Home Festival November 11-13.

Hosted by the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA (LECPTA), the Lakewood Home Festival is a community-wide event that raises funds for Lakewood Elementary School, J.L. Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School.  The funds directly benefit students through the purchase of school materials, computers and enrichment programs as well as the International Baccalaureate program.  Last year’s Home Festival raised approximately $144,000.

“We are thrilled with the homes on tour this year as well as 60-plus unique local vendors at our market,” said Lori Volney, 2011-12 LECPTA President. “We could not make this event possible without the hundreds of volunteers that run this event.”

In addition to touring the Lakewood homes, visitors can shop at the Holiday Market, sponsored by the Ebby Lakewood office, located at Lakewood Elementary.  The Holiday Market will feature more than 60 local artists, a Café featuring Penne Pomodoro, and is the location of the Auction Party on Friday night, November 11.  This year’s Auction Party theme is a Jimmy Buffet tribute: “Lakewoodville: ‘Livin’ in Paradise’.”

Come experience a weekend full of community traditions, neighborhood support, and camaraderie.  Tickets for the Lakewood Home Festival are sold at Lakewood Elementary School, located at 3000 Hillbrook, Tom Thumb (21 locations), White Rock Coffee, The T Shop, The Corner Market, and Mockingbird Florist as well as at each tour home during the event.

The weekend is finally upon us and there is no better way to enjoy a Dallas summer than a day at White Rock Lake. Enjoy Dallas and support the lake this Sunday at the Chef’s Picnic at the Lake at the Bath House Cultural Center from 12-3 PM. Chefs from local restaurants, including The Grape and Parigi, will prepare special picnic lunches served along with beer, wine and refreshments. Come try out what the chefs prepare while you enjoy live music and old photos from White Rock Lake.

Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross and the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration, which will aid in the funding of 10 projects to improve the lake and its surrounding community. This weekend’s celebrations mark the grand finale of four months of centennial celebrations, so this is your last chance to show your support for White Rock Lake and the benefits it provides our great city.

And don’t forget about the finale concert Sunday night at the Dallas Arboretum featuring A Hard Night’s Day.

The 100 days of celebration for White Rock Lake kicked off back in April with An Intimate Evening with Ebby at the Dallas Arboretum, and it’s not too late to celebrate the beloved lake.

The Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration will come to a close with a finale concert this Sunday, June 26th. One of Dallas’ most-loved cover bands, A Hard Night’s Day, will rock the lake at the Dallas Arboretum and our own Ebby Halliday, who also celebrated a 100th birthday this year, is the honorary chairwoman of the centennial celebration.

The June 26th concert will begin at 7PM and tickets are still available at whiterockdallas.org or by calling 1-800-494-8497. Proceeds from the 100 days of events will help fund 10 capital improvements projects at the lake.

Ebby isn’t the only one celebrating a centennial birthday this year.  Dallas’ White Rock Lake is also turning the big 1-0-0 in 2011 and the 100 days of celebration kicked off last night at the Dallas Arboretum with An Intimate Evening with Ebby.

The event served as a celebration of the birthdays of both Dallas icons and Ebby also happens to be serving as Honorary Chairwoman of the White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration.  The Celebration is hosted by organizations, including Ebby Halliday, Realtors, all committed to the preservation and improvement of this signature park. Proceeds from the 100 days of events will help fund 10 capital improvements projects at the lake.
